A family owned fish market since 1970, selling fresh seafood and cooked meals
Charles Donahue started the Donahue family seafood enterprise in the year 1970 selling fresh seafood from the back of a truck. Eventually, he rented a store in Derry, NH where his five children would work after school, learning the business while sharing family values. Donahue’s business grew in Derry, NH for five years before relocating to Plaistow, NH.
In 1975, the Donahue family business settled into the Plaistow area in what is now known as the Shaw’s Plaza. After three years of success in that area, in 1978 Charles and his wife Dotty purchased a small house in Plaistow and remodeled it into a small store, offering fresh quality seafood with quality service. Keeping their family values with them, the Donahue family had established a permanent location.
In 1985, Charles and Dotty moved their residence to the state of Maine and went on to open two additional businesses in the seafood industry, one in Rockland and the other in St. George. While Charles and Dotty continued to grow in Maine, their children, Mark, Susan, and Jennifer thrived in Plaistow.
On April 6th, 1993 our father Charles Donahue passed away, and as a result the Maine businesses were closed and Dotty Donahue returned to Plaistow to be with her family. In 2001, the Donahue family responded to customer demand and expanded the fish market to include some homemade deli entrees and a meat market.
The Donahue family business still offers the largest selection of quality seafood in the area, either fresh from our market, or freshly cooked from our kitchen, using our own products. We hope that you enjoy your visit to our establishment and will tell your family and friends.
